Once again Rakyesh omprakash mehra managed to expose the society but this time in more ubiquitous sense. Besides the emotional and masala touch in the movie he added the problems of India from the perspective of small region of Chandni Chowk; and amazingly it makes sense.
If you will follow the movie from the eyes of protagonist, you may think how stupid and idiot these Chowk guys are. You may not find yourself as a part of that society. But in the back of our mind we know where do we stand.
The few people actively creating problem by arbitrary connections with religion, of course our society has religion only to divide the people so once again it served its purpose, while the politicians, just to make their vote-banks strong, are supporting the wrong instead of suppressing the communal tensions. But there are even few people against the situation and obviously it makes them weak in the democracy.
But the majority of people are silent, so we are. They are like us, they can think and they know thats all is pathetic. But to whom is the ignorance of this larger section of society is helping. In the fight between a mouse and a cat mouse will not appreciate you being neutral. The silence or ignorance of the society is just like supporting the wrong doers and giving them indication that we don't want to take our responsiblities, so you please carry on we do not have any issues and you are free to treat us like we don't have any opinion and may be we are not humans.
That makes me remember the following lines by Sydney J. Harris :
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem,
but the perpetual human predicament is that the answer soon
poses its own problems."
The irony is that we all know that the problem is our ignorance and we all are still ignoring that, we are not yet free we do not have yet break the shackles of fear and prejudice. We are still in the hands of those mindless idiots just because of our ignorance from ourselves.
Kala bandar hoax reminds me of other beliefs existing in our society and it gives me a kind of explanation for the existence of those beliefs without any base. But they are not the part of this post.

There are no comments for this post yet because people don't think so deeply about the things happening around. It may not be the right time or right age for me to look upon these issues.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoughts and wish you success in all your future endeavors.
It’s quite easy to pointing out the general public for its non-willingness to do any thing. All the time we say, if there is something going wrong, people should stand against it and raise their voice. But we always forget to ask a question to ourselves, who r the public? Do we belong to public, people or any crowd?
ReplyDeleteFirst find out the answers for these question than you have a right to ask it from any one else. Generally, we don't even realize that we are making comment on ourselves by making comment on public.
It seems that we have become habitual to blame politician for any wrong, as author of this blog has pointed out, the religion and community based division are always carried out by politicians. But I'd like to remind one thing that they are just salesmen who want to sell what people ready to buy. They sell division, people buy it; they sell illiteracy, people again buy it. So, who are actual responsible for their act. *We or the people?(*Again an another question is being asked in this line by differentiating these two word).
People are not afraid to take any actions. But, they have lots of other responsibilities which must be fulfilled. Just sit behind a screen and writing some words doesn't accomplish any concrete and constructive results (I am not blaming anyone just pointing out a fact). Although, this is a good way to communicate our thinking to others and least a little effort is being made through this.
So, I want to end my comment in THE GNADHI JI words:
"Be the change you want to see in the world."
dear fiero, u said- "Generally, we don't even realize that we are making comment on ourselves by making comment on public."
ReplyDeletebut the self criticism is very much intentional and result of frustration of the author and if u'll carefully follow the essay u can find it, I'm highlighting them for u
"But the majority of people are silent, so we are. They are like us, they can think and they know thats all is pathetic"
"We" includes the author and its intentional, I respect all ur concerns but dont think author as an outsider laughing at u but he is just another common man who realizes his mistakes and urges the others for the help.
